I hear photographers all the time discussing how “if they only lived in the right location, their pictures would be awesome.” I understand what they are saying, but that is an excuse for not creating fantastic photographs. Sometimes our local areas have backdrops that we often overlook. Being a Long Island photographer, I sometimes don’t see what is right in front of me. I actually live facing the great south bay. Every day I stare at it and forget how beautiful it can be, and just beyond it, the Atlantic ocean, Robert Moses State Park and beach, and of course just a short drive to the famous Jones Beach State Park, probably one of New Yorks best known parks. No, the water isn’t blue like the caribbean, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use it as a wonderful backdrop. Here, Melissa and John pose in front of the waves of the Atlantic Ocean at Robert Moses State Park on Fire Island during pictures taken for their engagement. Coming soon, a gallery and video of their wedding shoot.
